Fulbright-HRB Health Impact Awards 2024
Five applications were received by the 27 October 2023 deadline. The Fullbright Commission are managing the call.
Emerging Clinician Scientist Awards (ECSA) 2024
Fifteen applications were received, which are all eligible (not checked for the scope). The applications are currently under review by an International Panel. The Panel meeting will take place in late January 2024 and a selected number of applicants will then be invited to the Full Application stage.
Emerging Investigator Awards (EIA) 2024
28 applications were received, which are all eligible (not checked for the scope). The applications are currently under review by an International Panel. The Panel meeting will take place in mid-January 2024 and a selected number of applicants will then be invited to the Full Application stage.
HRB evidence synthesis award to support clinical practice guideline development (ESCG) 2024
Applications are currently under review and the review panel meeting will take place in early February 2024.
Investigator Led Awards (ILP 2024)
The 2024 round of the Investigator Led Awards closed on 11 October 2023. 108 applications were received and are currently being checked for eligibility.
Summer Student Scholarships 2024
125 applications were received by the deadline, 14 December 2023. Following the eligibility check, the funding decision (by randomisation) is scheduled for late January 2024. The outcome will be then notified to lead applicants and their host institutions in early February 2024.
JPND Joint Transnational Working Group Call 2023
The deadline for submission to this working Group call was 12 December 2023. Applications are now undergoing review.
Open calls
Health Research Charities Ireland-Health Research Board (HRCI-HRB 2024)
The 2024 round of the HRCI-HRB Joint Funding Scheme is now open. The scheme aims to fund researchers and research teams to conduct internationally competitive and innovative research in areas of strategic relevance to each individual charity. Individual charities will set opening and closing dates.
US-Ireland Research and Development Partnership Programme
This is a rolling call. Check the scheme notice for full details.
ERA4Health Joint Transnational Call 2024
The deadline for submission of pre-proposals to this call on “Modulation of brain ageing through nutrition and healthy lifestyle (NutriBrain)” is 15 January 2024.

Upcoming calls
Applied Partnership Awards (APA) 2024
This call will open 10 January 2024. It will be a rolling call with two closing dates. Cycle I will close 3 April 2024, and cycle II will close 18 December 2024.
Conference and Event Sponsorship Scheme (CES) 2024
The HRB Conference and Event Sponsorship Scheme (CES 2024) will open on 10 January 2024. This scheme aims to create an opportunity to host health research related events, workshops, or conferences in Ireland.
HRB-DOH Evidence for Policy (EfP) Pilot 2024
HRB will launch the Evidence-for-Policy (EfP) Research Programme, a new collaborative initiative with the Department of Health, in January 2024. See more details in the call pre-announcement.
JPI-AMR Joint Transnational Call 2024
This call on “AMR Interventions” will open 10 January 2024 with a pre-proposal submission deadline of 14 March 2024. Further details are available in the pre-announcement.
European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed)
The Health Research Board and Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) are collaborating to support Irish researchers in this call on “PMTargets”. As part of the new European Partnership, EP PerMed, this call is tentatively expected to open early January 2024 with a likely pre-proposal submission deadline in early March 2024.
