Tobacco and alcohol industry funding

HRB Position Statement on Researchers funded by the Tobacco and Alcohol industry

In view of the overwhelming evidence that both active and passive smoking of tobacco are injurious to health, the HRB is unwilling to accept applications from individuals applying for, holding, or employed under funding received from the tobacco industry.1

In light of the lead role played by the Health Research Board in collecting and reporting data on alcohol consumption and alcohol-related harm for policy makers in Ireland, the HRB will not accept applications from individuals applying for, holding or employed under funding received from the alcohol industry and related actors.2
