The HRB is committed to training, supporting and developing academic researchers and health and care practitioners along the journey from doctoral training to research leadership. 

There are two separate research career pathways; each one is underpinned by a specific set of funding schemes.

The research career pathways are for:

1. Health and care practitioners (This refers to anyone providing clinical care including medics, allied health professionals, dentists, nurses and midwives.)
2. Academic researchers.
