Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDA) in Patient-focused Research
Nine full applications are currently undergoing international peer-review. A two-day interview meeting will take place on 3 and 4 October 2019 followed by HRB Board approval in early November 2019.
Research Leader Awards 2020
Ten of 11 applications were invited to stage two, the full application stage. These must be submitted by 19 September 2019. Applications will then undergo international peer-review followed by an interview in mid-January 2020.
Emerging Clinician Scientist Awards 2020
12 applications were invited to stage two of the process. The full application must be submitted by 26 September 2019. Applications will then undergo international peer-review and a panel review followed by an interview meeting in mid-January 2020.
Cancer Nursing Research Award 2019
Seven applications were submitted in early July and are currently under panel review. A selected number of candidates will be invited for interview. The review process is managed by the Irish Cancer Society.
Research Collaborative in Quality and Patient Safety 2019
Six applications were invited to submit a full application by 2 September 2019. Applications will then undergo international peer review followed by a panel meeting in November 2019.
European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD)
Three applications were invited to submit a full application in June 2019 and these are currently under review.

Upcoming deadlines under the SFI-HRB-Wellcome Research Partnership
A reminder that Wellcome, in partnership with the HRB and SFI, will co-fund research in the Republic of Ireland under the auspices of the SFI-HRB-Wellcome Research Partnership under a range of Wellcome funding schemes, including Investigator Awards, Fellowships and Collaborative Awards.
Upcoming deadlines for Fellowships include: Research Career Development Fellowships (14 November 2019), Clinical Research Career Development Fellowships (4 February 2020), Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowships (8 October 2019), Research Career Re-entry Fellowships (8 October 2019), Senior Research Fellowships (12 November 2019).
Other deadlines include: Investigator Awards (12 November 2019), and Impact of Vaccines on Antimicrobial Resistance (not under the Partnership) (deadline 12 September 2019). Applications and all enquiries about schemes should be made directly to Wellcome as they are responsible for the application assessment process and the final funding decision, liaising with HRB and SFI at each stage.
