Information on the Horizon Europe and the EU4 Health research programmes, including new funding calls, opening dates and upcoming deadlines.

Horizon Europe Health Cluster
First stage results of the 2024 two-stage calls from the Health Cluster Work Programme have been announced.
For successful first-stage proposals, the full proposals submission deadline is the 11 April 2024 (4.00 pm Irish time).

Destination 3. Tackling diseases and reducing disease burden
HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-08-12: Applications to call topic 08-12 will shortly be cancelled. HORIZON-HLTH-2024-TOOL-11-02: Bio-printing of living cells for regenerative medicine.
Destination 6. Maintaining an innovative, sustainable and globally competitive health industry
HORIZON-HLTH-2024-IND-06-08: Developing EU methodological frameworks for clinical/performance evaluation and post-market clinical/performance follow-up of medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDs).
HORIZON-HLTH-2024-IND-06-09: Gaining experience and confidence in New Approach Methodologies (NAM) for regulatory safety and efficacy testing – coordinated training and experience exchange for regulators.

The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP)
Global Health EDCTP3 2024 Work Programme is published. Calls for proposals are included in Annex 1A. They are all two-stages and the first stage closing deadline is the 4 April 2024.

European Innovation Council (EIC)
The European Commission adopted the 2024 work programme of the European Innovation Council (PDF download 1.3 MB).
EIC Transition to turn research results into innovation opportunities, following up on results generated by EIC Pathfinder projects, European Research Council Proof of Concept projects and open for the first time to project results from Horizon collaborative projects from Pillar 2/ societal challenges (grants up to €2.5 million). Submission deadline: 18 September 2024.
EIC Accelerator for start-ups and SMEs to develop and scale up innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones (grants below €2.5 million, investments from €0.5 to €15 million). Submission deadline: Short applications, any time; Full applications: 3 October 2024.
EIC Health Challenges
Monoclonal antibody-based therapeutics for new variants of emerging viruses.

Horizon Europe Health Cluster
The topics under Innovative Health Initiative – call 6 and 7 have been drafted and indicative text is published.
IHI call 6 (two-stage)
- Support healthcare system resilience through a focus on persistency in the treatment of chronic diseases.
- Development of practical guidance and recommendations for using real world data/real world evidence in healthcare decision-making.
IHI call 7 (single-stage)
- Improving clinical management of heart disease from early detection to treatment.
- User-centric technologies and optimised hospital workflows for a sustainable healthcare workforce.
- Clinical validation of biomarkers for diagnosis, monitoring disease progression and treatment response.
Cancer Mission 2024
Cancer mission 2024 work programme is under development and calls will open in April 2024 and close in September 2024.
