EU for Health

Operating Grants

Operating grants to non-governmental organisations: Financial contribution to the functioning of health non-governmental bodies. Total estimated value €9.0 million. Deadline 31 January 2024 4.00 pm.

Procurement

1. Single Framework Contracts to support training programmes and tabletop exercises on preparedness and response to cross-border health threats including medical countermeasures. HADEA/2023/OP/0039 Total estimated value €25.0 million. Deadline 2 February 2024:

  • Lot 1 Design and delivery of training courses and development of eLearning (€16.0 million)
  • Lot 2 Design and delivery of simulation exercises (€9.0 million)


2. Capacity Building to Support the Uptake of Biosimilars in a Multistakeholder Approach. HADEA/2023/OP/0040 Estimated value €1.5 million. Deadline 9 February 2024.

 

Horizon Europe Health cluster

The Health Cluster Work Programme for 2023 / 2024 is published.

Health Cluster 2024 Single Stage call topics are open and will close on 11 April 2024 (4.00 pm Irish time).

Call topics are divided into Destinations and include:

 

Destination 3. Tackling diseases and reducing disease burden

HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-08-12: Pandemic preparedness and response: Maintaining the European partnership for pandemic preparedness

HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-08-20: Pandemic preparedness and response: Host-pathogen interactions of infectious diseases with epidemic potential

 

Destination 5. Unlocking the full potential of new tools, technologies and digital solutions for a healthy society

HORIZON-HLTH-2024-TOOL-11-02: Bio-printing of living cells for regenerative medicine

 

Destination 6. Maintaining an innovative, sustainable and globally competitive health industry

HORIZON-HLTH-2024-IND-06-08: Developing EU methodological frameworks for clinical/performance evaluation and post-market clinical/performance follow-up of medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDs)

HORIZON-HLTH-2024-IND-06-09: Gaining experience and confidence in New Approach Methodologies (NAM) for regulatory safety and efficacy testing – coordinated training and experience exchange for regulators.

 

Innovative Health Initiative

The Innovative Health Initiative – call 5 (pdf) is published. Calls are single stage and deadline is on the 16 January 2024 (4.00 pm Irish time).

  • Topic 1: Accelerating the implementation of New Approach Methodologies and other innovative non-animal approaches for the development, testing and production of health technologies
  • Topic 2: Development and proof of principle of new clinical applications of theranostics solutions 
  • Topic 3: Improved prediction, detection, and treatment approaches for comprehensive stroke management
  • Topic 4: Maximising the potential of synthetic data generation in healthcare applications

 

Upcoming calls

EU4Health

Procurement:

  • Study on the Quality of Life of Cancer Patients and Survivors. HADEA/2023/OP/0038-PIN  (Est. value €1.5 million).
  • Building Capacity and Knowledge for the Implementation of the EU Health Technology Assessment Regulation. HADEA/2023/OP/0032-PIN  (Est. value €1.0 million)
  • Speed up the development, availability and access to anti-tuberculosis medicines for children. HADEA/2023/OP/0052 - PIN  (Est. value €5 million)

Further calls are expected throughout 2024 in the areas of crisis preparedness, health promotion & disease prevention, cancer, health systems & healthcare workforce and digital.

The indicative budget for 2024 is €752.4 million.

 

Horizon Europe Health Cluster

Innovative Health Initiative (IHI). The topics under Innovative Health Initiative – call 6 and 7 have been drafted and indicative text is published.

 

IHI call 6 (two-stage)

  1. Support healthcare system resilience through a focus on persistency in the treatment of chronic diseases
  2. Development of practical guidance and recommendations for using real world data/real world evidence in healthcare decision-making

 

IHI call 7 (single-stage)

  1. Improving clinical management of heart disease from early detection to treatment
  2. User-centric technologies and optimised hospital workflows for a sustainable healthcare workforce
  3. Clinical validation of biomarkers for diagnosis, monitoring disease progression and treatment response

 

Cancer Mission 2024

Cancer mission 2024 work programme is under development and calls will open in April 2024.
