The Fulbright Commission and the Health Research Board (HRB) are offering a unique opportunity for Irish professionals with five or more years’ experience in their field to travel to the USA to undertake research or professional development in any area of health.
The Fulbright Commission is seeking excellent applicants with strong leadership potential and a commitment to the ethos of being a Fulbrighter. Applications from senior health research administrators, health research managers and researchers in the following fields would be particularly welcomed by the HRB and the Fulbright Commission:
- Research management in a healthcare setting
- Development & implementation of institutional health research strategies
- Public, patient and carer involvement in health research
- Health research policy, including research governance and regulatory matters
- Evidence synthesis
- Secondary data analysis
- Implementation research
This is an opportunity to undertake research or professional development in the USA for a period of between three and six months.
Who can apply?
- The applicant must be an Irish citizen, or an EU citizen who has lived in the Republic of Ireland for five or more years. They must hold an honours bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from a recognised college and they must have five years’ relevant professional experience.
- They must have secured acceptance or affiliation with a recognised US institution.
- The scheme is open to all healthcare disciplines Proven leadership qualities and potential are essential.
- The applicant must have a clear understanding of what it means to be a Fulbrighter.
- The must not be a dual US Irish citizen, Green card holder, or currently living in the USA, or already have extensive experience of studying or living in the USA.
