The initiative, developed by the Department of Health and the HRB, provides a comprehensive view of all publicly funded addiction treatment and family support services across Ireland.

The new map is designed to help people easily locate addiction treatment services in their area. Users can search by address or zoom in on their location to see all nearby services. Each service listing includes details such as name, address, type of facility (community-based or residential), and the specific groups services are available for (adults, young people).

The map also displays the types of treatment available (e.g. counselling) and whether the service supports individuals struggling with alcohol, drugs, gambling, or provides family support. The map is based on data from the HRB’s National Drug Treatment Reporting System (NDTRS).

Dr Anne-Marie Carew, Research Officer at the HRB says, “This interactive map is a valuable tool for anyone seeking addiction treatment in Ireland and is designed to be transparent and user-friendly. The HRB will update the map regularly to ensure people who need treatment have access to the most current information.”

Ireland is the first European country to present comprehensive information on its drug treatment services in this way and the map will be a model for presenting information to the general public and policymakers, practitioners and funders.

The interactive map of publicly-funded drug treatment and drug-related family support services is available from the HRB National Drugs Library website.

This is a collaborative project involving the HRB National Drug Treatment Reporting System and the HRB National Drugs Library and the Department of Health. More than 430 HSE and community-based services are included on the map. The ongoing support of these services was invaluable in terms of ensuring the information it provides is accurate and presented in an accessible way.
