MRCG interim support award
The Medical Research Charities Group (MRCG) is the national organization of 35 medical research patient-led charities formed to promote dynamic medical research in Ireland. The MRCG works in partnership with key stakeholders, such as the Health Research Board (HRB), to bring added value to the health research landscape. The MRCG is a consensus-based organization which builds the capacity of charities to engage in health research. The objectives of the MRCG are:
1. To inform, facilitate and support those charities in Ireland that are undertaking medical research in the development of their research function.
2. To support other charities in Ireland to become involved in medical research for the benefit of patients.
3. To provide a networking and support system for charities in Ireland who support and undertake medical and related scientific research.
4. To identify matters of common interest to the Medical Research Charities in Ireland.
5. To facilitate discussion between charities in Ireland who support and undertake medical and related scientific research on matters of common concern.
6. To engage with other organisations with a view to jointly promoting the work of charities supporting and undertaking medical research in Ireland.
7. To represent the interests of those charities supporting and undertaking medical research for the benefit of patients on relevant statutory committees and other national or international fora.
8. To hold meetings, publish booklets, periodicals, pamphlets or articles with a view to informing the public and/or relevant groups about medical research in Ireland and the role of the medical research charities.
9. To take whatever other steps, and become involved in whatever other activities are appropriate and necessary, with a view to promoting and developing medical research in Ireland in general and specifically, the work of the Medical Research Charities.
