Irish Platform for Patients' Organisations, Science and Industry
The purpose of this award is to enable IPPOSI to undertake a work programme providing a forum for patient organisations, scientists and industry to inform and support the advancement of health research for the development of therapies and cures for unmet medical needs specifically but not limited to:
- Providing information for patients and other stakeholders (e.g. www.clinicaltrials.ie website, information leaflets on clinical research, training events such as Code of Marketing Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry or Health Information Bill, annual round table event with DOH Secretary General etc.)
- Providing a patient perspective on national groups (e.g. DOH Steering Group on Rare Diseases, HIQA Research Ethics Group) and consultations (from DOH/HIQA/HSE and EC)
- Formal collaboration with relevant stakeholders (e.g. agreement from National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics to formally engage with patients via IPPOSI re Health Technology Assessments, proposal to Enterprise Ireland to host event for brokering partnerships between industry and patient groups).
