Emerging Investigator Awards for Health (EIA) 2022
This call closed for pre-applications on the 19 August 2021 and HRB staff are completing eligibility checks. The Pre-application Panel review will commence at the beginning of Sept 2021. All applicants will receive notification of the Pre-application review outcome in mid-October 2021. The Guidance notes and an FAQ document are available on the HRB website funding page here: EIA 2022.
Secondary Data Analysis Projects (SDAP) 2021
33 eligible applications are undergoing international Peer review and Public review. The outcome of shortlisting will be communicated to all applicants in late August 2021. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to respond to the Peer reviewer and Public reviewer comments in advance of the Panel review meeting on 1 October 2021.

Collaborative Doctoral Awards in Patient-Focused Research (CDA) 2021
Eight applications invited to full application stage are currently undergoing international peer-review and public review with the applicant response phase to be open soon. The panel interview meeting will take place in late October and the final outcome will be notified in November.
Research Collaborative in Quality and Patient Safety 2021 (RCQPS)
Successful applicants at pre-proposal stage have been invited to submit a full proposal with a submission deadline of 8 September 2021.

Horizon Europe
Horizon Europe (2021-2027) is the EU's next funding programme for research and innovation. Cluster 1, 2021 Health calls are now open, closing on 21 September 2021 and are available on the funding and tenders portal. The Work Programme is available here in PDF. Structured PhD Programme in Population Health and Health Services Research (PHHSR) 2022
This is a targeted funding initiative to support a Structured PhD Programme in Population Health and Health Services Research (PHHSR). The HRB have invited the SPHeRE Co-directors to coordinate and lead an application for a new programme. Interested individuals involved in PHHSR training and research, from all HEIs and other research organisations, are encouraged to liaise with the team. EU4Health Programme
EU4Health (2021-2027) is one of the European Union's responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. With a total funding of €5.3 Billion, EU4Health represents an unprecedented level of financial commitment for Health actions in Europe. Here is the work programme for 2021. The first wave of calls was launched on 25 June 2021 on the funding and tenders portal. Here is the PDF version. The deadline for application submission is 15 September 2021.

HRCI/HRB Joint Funding Scheme 2022
This scheme funds internationally competitive and innovative research in areas of strategic relevance to HRCI-registered research charities. Those interested in this scheme should contact HRCI for further information. As each participating charity announces its call, interested applicants should contact the designated contact point at the respective charity. Calls are announced on the HRCI Open Calls page and the HRB grants page. Information session to be held virtually in Sept 2021.
SFI-HRB-Wellcome Research Partnership
To support their new strategy, Wellcome is changing the way they support scientific research. A new range of discovery research funding schemes has been launched and these will open for applications in late summer 2021.All current Wellcome funding schemes will close during 2021. Please check relevant scheme pages for final application deadlines.
Dorothy Programme 2022
Over €5.5 million will be invested to support twenty-five, three-year postdoctoral fellowships which will allow researchers to work in both overseas and Irish research institutions for eighteen months, respectively. The programme will be led by the Irish Research Council, in partnership with the Health Research Board and the Environmental Protection Agency. The call will open in October 2021.
