Applied Partnership Awards 2019 Cycle 2

The HRB Board approved six awards following the recommendations of the International Panel. The successful applicants have been notified.

Postdoctoral Fellowships 2020 – Applying Research into Policy and Practice (ARPP) 2020

The international peer-review is complete and 16 applications will be discussed by a virtual panel on Thursday 21 May 2020. The lead applicants are currently responding to the peer-reviewers’ and public reviewers’ comments prior to starting the panel review.

Clinician Scientist Postdoctoral Fellowships 2020 (CSF) 2020

The international peer-review is now completed and the outcome of the shortlisting will be communicated by Wednesday 22 April 2020. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to respond to the peer-reviewers’ and public reviewers’ comments prior to the panel review meeting on 29 May 2020.

Definitive Interventions and Feasibility Awards (DIFA) 2020

28 applicants were successful in proceeding to DIFA Full application stage which is now open on GEMs. The closing date for submission of DIFA full applications will be 30 June  2020.

Summer Student Scholarship 2020

57 awards were recently made. The HRB will re-evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic situation on these awards in mid May to assess their feasibility, with the potential to defer them to 2021.

Conference and event sponsorship scheme

The panel met remotely at the start of April. The outcome will be approved by the Executive team and circulated before the end of April 2020.

Fulbright-HRB HealthImpact Awards 2020

Three awards were recently made. The call is managed by Fulbright Commission Ireland.

COVID-19 Rapid response call

165 applications were received by the deadline on 9 April 2020. Some applications were shortlisted based on scores given by the panel on 17 April 2020 ahead of the panel meeting on 20 April 2020. At the (virtual) panel meeting funding recommendations will be made and be submitted to the HRB Board for approval. Applicants will be notified out the outcome in the coming days.

The call deadline (for charities) has been extended to 22 April 2020. (The original deadline had been 6 April 2020.)

SFI-HRB-Wellcome Biomedical Research Partnership

This is a rolling call. Check the scheme information for full details.

US-Ireland Research and Development Partnership Programme

This is a rolling call with intention to submit ten weeks in advance of the full proposal deadline at National Institutes for Health.

European calls

ERA-HDHL Call for Joint Transnational Research Proposals: “Development of targeted nutrition for prevention of undernutrition for older adults (PREVNUT)” 2020

The closing date for submission of proposals has been extended to 12 May 2020.

JPI HDHL “Prevention of unhealthy weight gain and obesity during crucial phases throughout the lifespan (PREPHOBES)” 2020

The pre-proposal deadline has been extended to 7 May 2020. The full proposal deadline extended to 31 July 2020.

EU Public Health Programme

The call for project grants is now open with a closing date of 3 June 2020.

EU Health award

The European Commission has launched two calls under the 2020 EU Health Award for NGO’s and schools promoting Vaccination and Healthy lifestyles. Closing date 11.00 am Central European Time, 29 April 2020.
