JPI HDHL “Prevention of unhealthy weight gain and obesity during crucial phases throughout the lifespan (PREPHOBES)” 2020

This joint transnational call intends to fund dedicated, top-class transnational research consortia to provide insights in innovative strategies to prevent or reduce overweight and obesity in defined target populations based on certain life stages.

Additional Information

This call is the third additional non-cofunded Joint Funding Action implemented in the frame of the ERA-Net Cofund HDHL INTIMIC (HDHL-INtesTInal MICrobiomics). Using this instrument the JPI HDHL aims at coordinating national and regional research programmes in the areas of food, diet, intestinal microbiomics and human health as well as food, nutrition and human health in general. For this call, proposals will need to focus on one or more crucial phase(s) throughout the lifespan such as transition periods (for example from prenatal to postnatal phase/infancy, pre-school to school age, adolescence to early adulthood) or critical life events (moving, marriage, period in between pregnancies, diagnosis of a chronic disease, recovering from disease, retirement, migration, etc.).

This is a joint transnational call: applicants must apply as part of a transnational consortium.
Researchers from Ireland can apply as coordinators or partners. If successful, researchers from Ireland will be funded by the Health Research Board up to the maximum amount for the call. Applicants applying for funding from Ireland must be based at an eligible HRB Host Institution. 
The following conditions apply to the composition of consortia:

  • Minimum of 3 partners from 3 different participating countries. 
  • No more than 2 partners can originate from the same country.
  • Maximum of 6 partners (including partners participating with their respective own funding as collaborators).

Individual country partners/coordinators should confirm eligibility with their national funding organisation contact point.   
Researchers who want to participate in a consortium need to register in the Meta Data Base of the JPI HDHL website: https://www.healthydietforhealthylife.eu/index.php/meta-data-base  This can also be used as a partnering tool to identify prospective partners.
