Open calls

Horizon Europe Health Cluster 2023-25 amendment   

Horizon Europe Health Cluster 2023-2024 Work Programme has been amended to include 3 new call topics. 2023-25 amended Work Programme is now published.   

Current open calls include: 

• HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-09-01: European Partnership: One Health Anti-Microbial Resistance. Closing date: 25 September 2024   

• HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-12-01: European partnership for pandemic preparedness. Closing date: 26 November 2024.  

• HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-13-01: Implementation research for management of multiple long-term conditions in the context of non-communicable diseases (Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases – GACD). Closing date: 26 November 2024.  

• HORIZON-HLTH-2024-CARE-14-01: Pre-commercial procurement for environmentally sustainable, climate neutral and circular health and care systems. Closing date: 26 November 2024.

Cancer Mission 2024

The Cancer Mission 2024 Work Programme is published.  

There are six call topics open for proposal submission with a deadline of 18 September 2024. Call topics include:   

• HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-01:Use cases for the UNCAN.eu research data platform   

• HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-02: Support to the development of national cancer data nodes  

• HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-03: Accessible and affordable risk predictor tests to advance early detection of heritable cancers in European regions  

• HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-04: Support a pragmatic clinical trial programme by cancer charities   

• HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-05: Improving the understanding and management of late-effects in adolescents and young adults (AYA) with cancer   

• HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-06: An information portal for the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre

Innovative Health Initiative

Innovative Health Initiative – call 8 

IHI call 8 is a two-stage call with topics on cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis, regulatory sandboxes, and patient-centred endpoints. IHI Call 8 is open with a deadline for short proposal submission of the 10th October 2024.

• Topic 1: A city-based approach to reducing cardiovascular mortality in Europe 

• Topic 2: Novel endpoints for osteoarthritis (OA) by applying big data analytics 

• Topic 3: Modelling regulatory sandbox mechanisms and enabling their deployment to support breakthrough innovation 

• Topic 4: Patient-centred clinical-study endpoints derived using digital health technologies 

European Innovation Council (EIC)

The European Commission adopted the 2024 work programme of the European Innovation Council.   

EIC Transition to turn research results into innovation opportunities, following up on results generated by EIC Pathfinder projects, European Research Council Proof of Concept projects and Horizon Europe collaborative projects from Pillar 2/ societal challenges (grants up to €2.5 million). Submission deadline: 18 September 2024 

EIC Accelerator for start-ups and SMEs to develop and scale up innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones (grants below €2.5 million, investments from €0.5 to €15 million). Submission deadline: Short applications, any time; Full applications: 3 October 2024 

EIC Accelerator Health Challenges: Monoclonal antibody-based therapeutics for new variants of emerging viruses. Detailed on page 92 of the EIC work program for 2024. Submission deadline: Short applications, any time; Full applications: 3 October 2024. 

EU4Health

Action grants 

HaDEA has published eight calls for proposals under the 2024 EU4Health Work Programme in the areas of crisis preparedness and cancer.

Crisis preparedness: The deadline for applications is on 5 September 2024. 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-01-1: European Hub for vaccine development (€102 M) 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-01-2: Next-generation respiratory protection (HERA) (€20 M) 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-01-3: To support innovative manufacturing technologies and processes in the Union for medicines production (€17 M) 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-01-4: To support the development of novel antivirals (€10 M) 

Cancer: The deadline for applications is on 10 October 2024. HaDEA ran a dedicated info session on 26 June 2024. 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-02-1: Call for Proposals to support integration of cancer images into the federated pan-European infrastructure to foster screening programmes (€8 M) 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-02-2: Call for Proposals to increase health literacy for cancer prevention and care (€5 M) 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-02-3: Call for proposals on the development of social services for psychosocial support and rehabilitation for children and their families in paediatric oncology clinics in Member States and countries associated to the EU4Health Programme (€7.4 M) 

• EU4H-2024-PJ-02-4: Call for Proposals on EU Network of Youth Cancer Survivors (€5 M) 

Procurement 

• HADEA/2024/OP/0017: Framework contracts for services and supplies to measure pathogens and pollutants of emerging concern in untreated wastewater samples as part of a global sentinel system. Deadline 17 September 2024, 3:00 pm; Estimated value €32.0 M. 

• HADEA/2024/OP/0027: Exploratory study on the provision of care for Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer patients in the Union. Deadline 9 October 2024, 3:00 pm; Estimated value €1.0 M. 

• HADEA/2024/OP/0031: Single framework contract for joint clinical assessments and joint scientific consultations on health technology assessment. Deadline 10 October 2024, 3:00 pm; Estimated value €35.0 M.

The final wave of calls for grant funding are expected to launch on 5 September 2024 in the areas of health promotion & disease prevention, cancer, and digital.
