Inpatient Mental Health Services NPIRS

The National Psychiatric Inpatient Reporting System (NPIRS) gathers data on patient admissions to, and discharges from, psychiatric hospitals and units throughout Ireland.

Data are collected from all approved centres on the Register of Approved Centres under the Mental Health Act 2001. The data collected have been reported annually since 1965 and play a central role in the planning of service delivery, informing policy and practice.
