Structured PhD Programme in Population Health and Health Services Research (PHHSR) 2022

This is a targeted funding initiative to support a Structured PhD Programme in Population Health and Health Services Research (PHHSR). The HRB have invited the SPHeRE Co-directors to coordinate and lead an application for a new programme. Interested individuals involved in PHHSR training and research, from all HEIs and other research organisations, are encouraged to liaise with the team. EU4Health Programme

EU4Health (2021-2027) is one of the European Union’s responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. With a total funding of €5.3 Billion, EU4Health represents an unprecedented level of financial commitment for Health actions in Europe. The work programme for 2021 is available here ( WP 2021_annex_comments LS (europa.eu)). The first wave of calls was launched on 25 June 2021 on the funding and tenders portal https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/screen/home. HRCI/HRB Joint Funding Scheme 2022

This scheme funds internationally competitive and innovative research in areas of strategic relevance to HRCI-registered research charities. Those interested in this scheme should contact HRCI for further information. As each participating charity announces its call, interested applicants should contact the designated contact point at the respective charity. Calls are announced on the HRCI Open Calls page and the HRB grants page. Information session to be held virtually in Sept 2021.

Investigator-Led Projects (ILP) 2022 

The call will open on 29 June 2021, and the deadline for submission of applications is 13 September 2021 (board approval pending). More information will follow on the HRB website funding page.

SFI-HRB-Wellcome Research Partnership

To support their new strategy, Wellcome is changing the way they support scientific research. A new range of discovery research funding schemes has been launched and these will open for applications in late summer 2021.All current Wellcome funding schemes will close during 2021. Please check relevant scheme pages for final application deadlines. 

Dorothy Programme 2022

Over €5.5 million will be invested to support twenty-five, three-year postdoctoral fellowships which will allow researchers to work in both overseas and Irish research institutions for eighteen months, respectively. The programme will be led by the Irish Research Council, in partnership with the Health Research Board and the Environmental Protection Agency.
