Congratulations to Jerry Selvaseelan, a HSE Risk and Quality Advisor based in Naas, who was the winner in the Healthcare Innovation Award category at last night’s IMSTA Award ceremony.
The project aimed to develop, implement and evaluate a new auxillary risk management framework and process for use within high-risk healthcare environments. It was developed while he worked in the CHO-9 catchment area of Dublin North Central.
According to the judges, the project called ‘Development and Introduction of the Risk-Sentience Auxillary Framework as a robust enabler to the ISO 3100 and ISO 31010 for high-risk environments‘ was an excellent example of improving the quality of the health service by making use of informal information from the coal face.
Congratulations also go to the two other finalists.

  • Chris Collenette at Think Research for the Progress Notes project. Progress notes lets physicians document patients progress in a structured searchable electronic document, rather than handwritten on paper, with the resultant legibility issues, and structured search limitations of paper.
  • Tristian Dent at HiberGene Diagnostics for the HG Meningococcus Direct Swab project. This molecular diagnostic test can detect the bacteria responsible for the leading cause of meningitis in young children from a throat swab samples.
