Dr Martina Ní Chúlain serves as the Director of Strategic Development and Process Improvement at the College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences at the University of Galway. In this senior leadership position, she operates at a strategic level interconnecting the education sector with healthcare, government agencies, charities, and industry. Martina oversees strategic business planning and leads a diverse portfolio of accredited clinical education and research initiatives, encompassing both regulated and non-regulated clinical trials, as well as the management of accredited healthcare education programs in disciplines such as Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Podiatric Medicine, and Social Care.

A University of Galway alumna, Martina holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biotechnology and a PhD in Medical Microbiology. She joined the University in 2009 after a career in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, and has held her current role since 2015. Martina has also held several key leadership roles, including Head of Admissions and Academic Planning and Resourcing, and has spearheaded new academic programs and capital development projects. With extensive experience in higher education leadership, governance, finance, large-scale research bids, change management, and health research policy development, she brings a wealth of expertise to the board. Martina has also served on the board of CORU, the Health and Social Care Professions Regulator since 2022.
