Dr Laura Whelan Ph.D. is project manager of both the Genomic Data Infrastructure Ireland and Genome of Ireland initiatives and a lecturer in human genetics and genomics at the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences. Laura’s career to date has focused on helping patients with inherited disease receive a genetic diagnosis and obtained her doctoral degree in human genetics from the School of Genetics and Microbiology at Trinity College Dublin. Laura’s current research is focused on improving national services and resources for genetic/genomic research and healthcare in Ireland. Laura is passionate about engaged research and working with a range of communities from patients, the public, healthcare professionals, industry, policymakers, scientists and academics to achieve common goals in Ireland and internationally.
