Perspectives on Collaboration and Partnership in Research

Over the last decade, research funders including the HRB are requesting a more interdisciplinary, collaborative and partnership approach to research to enhance the reach and impact, both research and societal, of our investments.

The HRB also aim to support and enhance this through our own actions. But there is a lot to learn in terms of what is involved, and the efforts needed to partner and collaborate during the research process, especially in complex research areas. Researchers must now take on different roles, bridge several worlds and develop new skills, relationships, and networks.

With this is mind we explored different perspectives of collaboration and partnership in research through the lens of three themes:

Theme 1: Adopting interdisciplinary and knowledge approaches in health research

Theme 2: The future of data collaboration

Theme 3: The growing importance of research networks and International collaboration
