Where research meets policy
Dr Mairéad O Driscoll, Chief Executive at the Health Research Board, will participate at a Department of Health (DOH) event this month that will discuss the role of research in health reform in Ireland.

‘Evidence for Reform: Where research meets policy’ will cover topics including Health System Sustainability and Productivity; Prevention, Health Promotion and well-being; and Expansion of care into the Community.
National and international speakers at this fully in-person event to be held in Dublin include representatives from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Health Service Executive (HSE), the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI).
According to Dr O’Driscoll:
“The HRB is committed to ensuring that high quality research, data and evidence are used to drive policy, which is vital to making Ireland’s health and social care system the best it can be. This event will further explore how this can be achieved, so I’m delighted to participate.”
Dr O’Driscoll will join the day’s final panel on health research and policy, which will be chaired by Jasmina Behan, Assistant Secretary, Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

- Bernard Gloster – incoming CEO of the Health Service Executive (HSE)
- Ana Terrés – Head of Research and Evidence, Health Service Executive (HSE)
- Máirín Ryan – Director of Health Technology Assessment, Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA)
