Doctoral Training Programme in Precision Medicine in Cancer (PMC) 2023

The Executive Team of the HRB, with delegated authority from the HRB Board and the Management Team of the Public Health Agency in Norther Ireland, approved an award to Queen’s University Belfast for a Doctoral Training Programme in Precision Medicine in Cancer. The call for this programme is under the auspices of the Ireland-Northern Ireland-National Cancer Institute Cancer Consortium, the HRB and the HSC R&D Division in NI. The HRB is the lead agency managing the call and the award.

Investigator Led Awards (ILP 2024)

The 2024 round of the Investigator Led Awards closed on 11 October 2023. 108 applications were received and are currently being checked for eligibility.

Fulbright-HRB Health Impact Awards 2024

The Fulbright Commission and the HRB are offering a unique opportunity for Irish professionals with five or more years’ experience in their field to travel to the USA to undertake research or professional development in any area of health. The closing date for the 2024 round is 4.00 pm 27 October 2023.

Emerging Clinician Scientist Awards (ECSA) 2024

The 2024 round of Emerging Clinician Scientist Awards is currently open and the closing date for pre-applications is 23 November 2023. This scheme has a two-stage application process. The scheme targets health and social care practitioners from any professional background, medicine, nursing and midwifery, dentistry and any health and social care professions, who are involved in the delivery of patient or social care and are research active.
 

Emerging Investigator Awards (EIA) 2024

The 2024 round of Emerging Investigator Awards is currently open and the closing date for pre-applications is 9 November 2023. This scheme has a two-stage application process. The scheme targets academic postdoctoral researchers from different disciplines who are ready to transition towards research independence and can facilitate actionable knowledge in health research.

Health Research Charities Ireland-Health Research Board (HRCI-HRB 2024)

The 2024 round of the HRCI-HRB Joint Funding Scheme is now open. The scheme aims to fund researchers and research teams to conduct internationally competitive and innovative research in areas of strategic relevance to each individual charity. Individual charities will set opening and closing dates.

Summer Student Scholarships 2024

The 2024 round of the Summer Student Scholarships opened on 16 October 2023 and will close for applications on Thursday 14 December 2023. The scheme supports undergraduate students in health or social care-related disciplines to complete short research projects during the summer. The purpose of the scholarship scheme is to encourage an interest in research and give students an opportunity to become familiar with research techniques. If successful, the students will start their scholarships in early June 2024. The new timeframe of this call aims to facilitate successful students and their supervisors to obtain the necessary approvals (ethics or animal) prior to commencing the scholarship.
