Upcoming calls
New funding for research into personalised medicine.
The HRB is supporting Irish participation in a European initiative for Personalised Medicine: ERAPerMed.
February 2018: Launch of first call “Smart Combination Of Pre-Clinical and Clinical Research with Data and IT solutions”. The grant will go live on the HRB website during February, with full details for applicants from Ireland.
April 2018: Submission deadline for pre-proposals
5 July 2018: Expected date for submission of Full-Proposal from trans-national consortia who are invited to submit.

New call under the Joint Programming Initiative “A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life” (JPI HDHL).
The call aims to create transnational research project consortia in the emerging field of epigenetics. Research in this area is expected to provide insights to develop and scientifically support intervention strategies for sustaining good health through all life stages and treating nutrition-related diseases.
6 February 2018: Call launched on the HDHL website.
12 April 2018: Deadline for proposals
The HRB have earmarked a budget of €370,000 over 3 years to support successful Irish delegates to participate. More detailed information for Irish applicants will be published on the HRB website following the call launch.

Summer Student Scholarship 2018
Only two weeks left to apply for this scholarship. It supports undergraduate students in a health or social care-related discipline at a university/third level institute in Ireland to participate in research for up to 8 weeks during the summer months in 2018 The deadline for submissions is Thursday 15 February 2018.

Applying Research into Policy & Practice Postdoctoral Fellowship (ARPP)
These fellowships aim to reduce the gap between research findings and health policy and/or clinical practice by building capability and leadership potential among researchers. Academic researchers or in-practice healthcare and health policy professionals can apply under two different streams Academic and In-Practice.

Collaborative Doctoral Awards in Patient-focused Research (CDA) 2018
Ten teams were interviewed by an international multidisciplinary Panel on 22-23 January. The HRB Board will review the recommendation of the Panel on 23 February 2018 and Lead Applicants will be notified the outcome immediately after. The aim is to start the Programmes in May 2018.
NCI Summer Curriculum in Cancer Prevention 2018
The HRB received 18 applications for the Principles and Practice of Cancer Prevention and Control courses and 18 applications for the Molecular Prevention course. The candidates who will be offered places for these courses and applicants will be notified by the HRB at the end of February 2018.
