Definitive Interventions and Feasibility Awards (DIFA)

28 applications were discussed at a virtual panel meeting on November 16 and 17. Panel recommendations will be discussed at the HRB Board in December. Applicants will be notified of the outcome. 

Fulbright-HRB Health Impact Awards 2021 

The call closed in early November. Following the eligibility check the Fulbright Commission in Ireland will start reviewing the eligible applications.

HRB Clinical Trials Network (CTN) 2021 

14 applications were received on December 1. HRB staff are currently checking eligibility. Eligible applications will be sent out for international panel review in mid-December. 

HRB Impact Award 

The HRB Impact Award panel met in mid-November. The winner will be informed shortly following approval of the panel recommendation by the HRB Board on December 11. The winner will be formally announced at the HRB Grant Holders Conference in February 2021.

Collaborative Doctoral Awards in Patient-Focused Research (CDA) 2021

The call for pre-applications is currently open with a deadline for submission on December 17.

HRB Clinical Research Facilities/Centres (CRF/C) 2021

The aim of the HRB Clinical Research Facilities/Centres call is to support/upgrade national CRF/Cs to international standing, increase accessibility to trials for patients and healthy volunteers, and improve the supports available to investigators to drive an increase in investigator-led clinical trials. The closing date for applications is January 19, 2021.

Cancer Trials in Ireland 2021

The goal of this funding is to support the establishment of cancer trial delivery clusters and a National Cancer Clinical Trials Network to enable Irish cancer patients to access a diverse portfolio of high quality, safe and complaint cancer clinical trials. The closing date for applications is January 15, 2021.

Summer Student Scholarships 2021

The call is currently open with a deadline for submission on January 21, 2021.

Ulysses Travel Grants

The HRB is partnering with the Irish Research Council’s (IRC) Ulysses travel grant to fund a number of research visits to France in three areas: Patient-oriented and clinical research, population health research, and health services research. Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe (2021-2027) is the EU’s next funding programme for research and innovation. Cluster 1 Health calls will likely launch in April 2021. The Work Programme is currently being developed. Joint Programme Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR)

A call will open in early 2021 to support health interventions to prevent or reduce the development and transmission of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). See JPIAMR pre-announcement.

Joint Programme Initiative on Healthy Diet Healthy Life

A call will open on January 21, 2021 to support “Standardised measurement, monitoring and/or biomarkers to study food intake, physical activity and health (STAMIFY)”. The deadline for submission of pre-proposals is March 18, 2021. More information will follow on the HRB website funding page.
