Applications in progress
Investigator-Led Projects (ILP) 2019
Applicants were shortlisted from the first stage of the ILP peer-review process. The international peer-review process was competitive with a total of 76 applications shortlisted for the three remits, Patient-Oriented, Health Services Research and Population Health Services. The right-to-reply phase has ended and the final stage of the panel reviewers’ process began on 17th April 2019. The panel meetings will be held during the final week of May 2019 and first week of June 2019.
Definitive Interventions and Feasibility Awards (DIFA) 2018
There are eleven recipients of DIFA 2018 awards. Budget negotiations are almost complete and the contracts will issue shortly. The earliest award start date will be on 1 May 2019.
Patrick Quinn Awards for Parkinson’s Research
The applications were reviewed by the international peer-reviewers from March until April 2019. The right-to-reply phase has started and ended on 29 April 2019.
Emerging Investigator Awards for Health (EIA) 2019
13 candidates were interviewed by an international panel on 9-10 April 2019. The Panel’s recommendations will be discussed by the HRB Board in mid-May 2019 and the candidates will be notified shortly thereafter.
Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDA) in Patient-focused Research
The international panel invited nine pre-applications to submit a full application. The submission deadline for this full application is 30 May 2019. Applications will be then peer-reviewed and an interview process will take place in October 2019 with a view to seek HRB Board approval in December 2019.
Summer Student Scholarship (SS) 2019
86 scholarships were awarded in April. The scholars will start their summer projects in early June 2019.
European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD)
There were seven applications with Irish partners submitted and they are currently under review. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of stage 1 in early May 2019. Please note that applicants invited to the full application stage will have approximately five weeks to complete their application.

Research Collaborative in Quality and Patient Safety
Pre-application proposals must be sent electronically to RCQPS at rcqps(at)rcpi.ie no later than 5.00 pm 13 June 2019.

NCI-HRB Cancer Prevention Fellowship Programme 2020
In collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, the Health Research Board (HRB) is inviting applications from individuals working in the Republic of Ireland to become a Cancer Prevention Fellow at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the USA. Awards are for up to five years, including a reintegration year back in Ireland. The application closing date is 19 August 2019 for entry into the Programme in June 2020.
