Applied Partnership Awards (APA) 2017 First Peer Review Cycle: The recommendations from the review panel were tabled at the September HRB Board meeting. Applicants will be notified in the coming days of the outcome.
Applied Partnership Awards (APA) 2017 Second Peer Review Cycle: This closed on the 15 September 2017 with 27 applications received. The paper review process will begin shortly and the panel review meeting will be in March. Applicants will be informed of the outcome following Board approval in May or June 2018.
Cancer Prevention Fellowship Programme 2018: The call for the National Cancer Institute Cancer Prevention Fellowship Programme 2018 closed on 25 August. The only applicant from Ireland has been shortlisted the next stage. This candidate will travel to US to attend the interview on 25 October. The outcome will be known shortly after. If successful, the awardee with carry out a Master’s programme in public health (MPH) in the first year of the award in Ireland, before relocating for 3 years to the National Cancer Institute in the US. The awardee can also avail of a year of funding for relocating back to Ireland.
Collaborative Doctoral Awards in Patient-focused Research (CDA) 2018: Stage 1 is now completed. 41 submitted pre-applications were discussed by an international multidisciplinary panel on 13 September and 10 applications have been invited to stage 2. All applicants have been now notified. The submission of Full Applications is Friday 17 November 2017. Following international peer review, a two-day interview meeting will take place in early February 2018 and we will notify the Lead Applicants about the dates as soon as possible.
Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Scheme (KEDS) 2017: The recommendations from the review panel were tabled at the September HRB Board meeting. Applicants will be notified in the coming days of the outcome.

Applying Research into Policy & Practice Postdoctoral Fellowship (ARPP):
The call for this grant will open early-to-mid October with a closing date in January 2018. These individual fellowships are designed to build capability and leadership potential of researchers who will help reduce the gap between research findings and health policy and/or clinical practice. Academic researchers or in-practice healthcare and health policy professionals can apply under two different streams.

Definitive Interventions and Feasibility Awards (DIFA) 2019:
The second round of the DIFA scheme will be launched on 1 November 2017. A pre-application stage is being introduced into the call. Eligible pre-applications will be short listed by an international review panel. A selected number of applicant teams will be invited to full application stage. The Lead Applicant will have the opportunity to make revisions from pre-application to full application stage especially if addressing the panel feedback from the pre-application stage. As previously, full applications will undergo a two-stage assessment process.
MRCG/HRB Joint Funding scheme 2018:
The ninth round of the MRCG/HRB Joint Funding Scheme is expected to be announced October 2018. The MRCG/HRB Joint Funding Scheme aims to fund researchers and research teams to conduct internationally competitive and innovative research in areas of strategic relevance to each individual charity. Calls will be announced on our grants page (http://www.hrb.ie/grants/). Those interested in this scheme should contact the MRCG for further information. As calls are announced, applicants should contact the designated contact point at the respective charity.
