Changes to schemes

The US-Ireland R&D Partnership Programme (submission are made to the National Institutes of Health) have been revised.

Key changes to the scheme – for the Republic of Ireland applicants – include:

  1. HRB and SFI have opened up the scheme to fund projects across the entirety of the NIH remit. This means that applicants no longer have to demonstrate how the different components of their research align either with HRB or SFI remits.
  2. The maximum amount available per project for the Republic of Ireland component has been increased from €805,000 (inclusive of 30% overheads) to €910,000 (inclusive of 30% overheads.) thus applicants will be able to apply for up to €700,000 in research funding under this programme.
  3. HRB and SFI have agreed a single set of budget guidelines and single budget template, and will fund any successful projects on a 50:50 basis, based on the outcome of the NIH merit review.

The relevant call documents have been updated in the grant notice on the HRB website.
