With a prize fund of €50,000, the winner will be announced at the HRB Grant Holders Conference in February 2025. Nominations close 1.00 pm, 10 October 2024.
Speaking about the award, Dr Mairéad O’Driscoll, HRB Chief Executive said
“The HRB Impact Award is our chance to shine a spotlight on the incredible contributions of HRB-funded researchers. It’s not just about academic achievements; it’s about celebrating the real-world impact and inspiring stories that resonate beyond the research community.
We have seen such strong nominations in the past, that the international review panel who reviewed previous nominations commented on just how difficult their task was.
If you nominated someone before but didn’t win, we encourage you to try again and we are excited to see more outstanding entries again this year.”
Information on the three previous award winners is available below
Professor Orla Hardiman in 2023
Professor Gerry McElvaney 2021, and
Professor Mary McCarron in 2019.
*Individuals must be nominated to receive the award, and they must agree to be nominated.
