Your Ultrasound Journey and What to Expect

Prenatal care visits are an important aspect of a pregnancy journey, providing expectant parents with reassurance and valuable information about the health and wellbeing of their growing baby.

The focus of our virtual event is to bring together a team of maternity care experts to provide informative and accessible guidance on all aspects of prenatal care from early pregnancy scans to more advanced prenatal diagnostic tests. Together, we will discuss what types of scans are routinely offered, what other scans and tests are available, when and why they are offered, what to expect from the results, and the support available if an anomaly is found.

Aligned with recent health strategies such as Healthy Ireland and the National Maternity Strategy, our event aims to address the need for support and accessible information during pregnancy, ensuring research and evidence-based care are translated into improvements in women and children’s health.

We will create a digital forum for submitting questions in advance of the event, all of which will be answered in accessible video format by a panel of experts including obstetricians, midwives, and sonographers, who will respond to these questions through engaging video formats. From early pregnancy reassurance/viability scans, NIPT-based screening, fetal anomaly scans, 3D scans, and later pregnancy growth/wellbeing checks, ‘Your Ultrasound Journey and What to Expect’ will answer all questions raised during this exciting and transformative time for couples, families and carers.

Participants in this event will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of this crucial aspect of prenatal care and feel more empowered and confident as they navigate their pregnancy journey. Moreover, this event is an opportunity to build a strong and supportive environment for patients, parents to be, women, families and their team of healthcare providers which will strengthen collaboration and relationships with the Irish healthcare system.
