TransCare seminar – Developing creative practices around trans, gender-diverse and intersex inclusive healthcare research and education

This two-day seminar aims at introducing and disseminating innovative methodologies for developing interdisciplinary and diverse research frameworks to engage with data and findings related to the healthcare experiences of trans, intersex, and gender-diverse individuals. Furthermore, the workshop will address methods to embed this data in education.
Panels will focus on participatory, transformative, and art-based research methods to demonstrate how these approaches better capture the diverse and complex experiences of trans, gender-diverse, and intersex participants, avoiding the limitations often inherent in traditional approaches. With their high innovative and interdisciplinary potential, these research methods support the delineation of innovative pedagogical approaches to educate prospective healthcare professionals.
This seminar constitutes the second TransCare event and will crystallise the networks and synergies established in the first TransCare Conference held at the University College Cork in September 2024. Homing in its core values, the TransCare seminar will display a high degree of interdisciplinarity, connecting scholars from medical humanities with healthcare professionals and trans and intersex activists. Scholars, professionals, activists and students will be invited to bring their research data, case studies or prospective research projects to actively put to test the approaches presented.
