Stroke SPEAK – Stroke Prevention, Education, Awareness, Kinship

The iPASTAR team (Improving Pathways for Acute Stroke and Rehabilitation) is committed to making a significant impact in stroke care. We have identified a need to improve the dissemination of our research findings to maximise their impact, and reach our target audiences effectively. Stroke is a global health concern, causing a significant number of deaths and disabilities worldwide. Through our collaboration with PPI members, who have been central to our programme ethos, we recognised fragmented stroke care delivery. To address this, we developed the iPASTAR programme based on four pillars: acute care and equity of access, transitions of care from hospital to rehabilitation, living well after stroke and stroke prevention, and understanding the costs associated with strokes. Stroke SPEAK is designed to streamline the communication of our research findings – ‘Time Means Brain,’ ‘The Road to Recovery’ and ‘Stroke Savvy Living’ – by using various channels and resources.

Through Stroke SPEAK, we will use traditional and digital platforms to engage with healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and the general public. These resources will enable us to effectively communicate our important research findings to our target audiences, ensuring that they understand the significance of our work. Furthermore, Stroke SPEAK will facilitate two-way communication by encouraging feedback and collaborations within the stroke community. We believe that by fostering an interactive dialogue, we can generate valuable insights and exchange best practices to drive positive change in stroke care delivery.

By enhancing our dissemination efforts, we believe we can make a tangible difference in stroke care and rehabilitation practices. Our goal is to raise awareness, share knowledge, and ultimately improve outcomes for individuals affected by stroke.

With the support of this grant, we are confident that we can achieve our mission of empowering individuals to maintain their health through the advancement of stroke care information.
