The aim of this study is to compare cognitive function in opioid dependant patients receiving opioid substitution therapies (OST), such as methadone, with those that have been abstaining for more than 2 years from opiates. While literature is emerging regarding the longterm cognitive impairments resulting from OST, further investigation is needed into the neuropsychological side effects of such therapy. Through a variety of assessments on opioid dependant patients, we hope to add to the literature regarding what exact cognitive deficits may occur from OST and how they occur.
