InFact 2.0: The international Forum for Acute Care Trialists: Establishing the Irish Critical Care Clinical Trials Network as a regional hub of InFACT and strengthening global research collaboration.

The international Forum for Acute care trialists (InFACT) is the voice of the international acute care research community. The Irish Critical Care Clinical Trials Network (ICC-CTN) carries out investigator-led research involving critically ill patents, in collaboration with colleagues across the island of Ireland to improve patient care and outcomes. InFACT provides a forum to enable similar networks in other countries to come together, creating a ‘network of networks’. As these networks share a common goal of improving patient outcomes, global collaboration through InFACT can give patients greater access to research and improve the quality and equity of research. Irish participation in InFACT provides Irish representation in these global efforts to improve care for our patients with critical illness. The InFACT 2.0 workshop in Belfast, Northern Ireland will be facilitated by the ICC-CTN. It will provide an opportunity for member networks from around the world to come together to work towards our shared goal of improving patient care and outcomes. Importantly, it will highlight a role for Ireland and explore the opportunity to create an Irish hub in this international organization to promote and coordinate activities in Ireland and parts of the EU. The workshop will include Irish patient and public representation with strong leadership in this area from the ICC-CTN, and it will discuss patient and public partnerships within InFACT’s Irish membership.
Outcomes pre-and-post workshop will be disseminated through InFACT’s and the ICC-CTN’s media channels – X, Bluesky, email and websites. Outcomes relevant to patients and public will be disseminated to those mailing lists (Ireland, Pakistan/India/Nepal PPI groups). Members and regional hubs (such as ICC-CTN) can widely disseminate outcomes through their websites and social media using a knowledge mobilization toolkit developed by InFACT, featuring ready-to-use content like social media posts, images, videos, and podcasts.
