This project aims to investigate the impact of obesity on mesenchymal stromal cells and their productivity. It has been suggested that the microenvironment that the mesenchymal stromal cells are administered into can have a major effect on their capabilities, I aim to look further into this. In order to carry out this project, samples of peripheral blood serum and adipose tissues of obese patients is required. The abilities of the mesenchymal stromal cells to mediate inflammatory repression will be explored in the presence of serum from patients with obesity to simulate the obese microenvironment.
