Fetal growth restriction is defined as having an estimated fetal weight of less than the tenth centile on the customised population chart. It has been shown to carry increased risk of infection, hameorrhage and respiratory difficulties in the newborn, as well as links to heart disease, type II diabetes and stroke risk in later life. At present, only one third of cases are detected antenatally. There are several identified maternal risk factors, such as medical conditions, increased BMI, smoking and alcohol consumption in pregnancy. This project will seek to garner information about detection of these risk factors in a cohort of women in CUMH and whether appropriate treatment and management plans are implemented in such cases. It will also seek to establish if the model of care has an impact on the assessment and identification oof risk factors, that is private, semi-private or public.
