The National Society for Neuroscience in Ireland, hosts a conference for early career researchers biennially at an Irish higher education institution. This year’s theme ‘Emerging Minds, Exploration of Brain Health’ is emphasizing the important and vital role of the talented and innovative emerging researchers in the early stages of their research journey.
The research of neuroscience and brain health across Ireland explores a wide variety of topics, including neurodegenerative, neuropsychiatric, and neurodevelopmental disorders and diseases. The highlighted research will also feature the discovery of diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and exploring strategies to repair brain damage and prevent clinical progression. Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Autism and ADHD are key areas of focus within Ireland’s vibrant neuroscience research landscape. Major progress in these research fields is being led by early-career researchers, and their work is poised to make a meaningful and wide-ranging contribution to public health. This conference provides an opportunity for dissemination and celebration of the work of early career researchers, in addition to professional development, career advancement and research skill enhancement, with the intent to further the progression of neuroscience and brain health research in Ireland.
The audience of this conference will be primarily early-career researchers, including undergraduates, masters students, PhD students and early-stage post-doctoral researchers. The primary outcomes of this conference will be strengthening the network and brain-health related collaborations between early-career neuroscientists across Ireland, increased education and awareness of the breadth of neuroscience research in Ireland, early-career researcher recognition via awards, and engagement of the neuroscience research community as a network (a key goal of Neuroscience Ireland).
