The next stage application of artificial intelligence to surgery needs focus on real-world deployment. How surgeons can integrate extra layers of information at time of already considerable cognitive work and how such data and decision-sharing may impact issues of liability and ownership have specific distinct implications in surgery versus other medical AI domains. This Fulbright research programme has 3 constituent parts achievable by engagement and on site presence at the Perelman School of Medicine in collaboration with Dan Hashimoto. (1) Qualitative research on surgeon and surgical team sentiment and perspective. (2) Computational research. (3) Surgical user-AI interaction research
