Dr Leonora Bishop

Dr Leonora Bishop is a Non-Executive Director of Debra Ireland, the charity supporting patients and their families with the rare disease, epidermolysis bullosa.  She is also a Non-Executive Director of the Charles Institute of Dermatology, UCD.

Leonora has over 20 years’ experience in the life sciences sector, having previously worked with start-ups, academic institutions, and Government agencies, including IDA Ireland where she was responsible for driving the RD&I activities within the organization. These included the establishment of the National Institute of Bioprocessing Research and Training and devising the model for large industry-academic collaborative research projects, leading to investments totalling €61m. Leonora served on the Irish Advisory Council for Science, Technology & Innovation.  She currently acts as a consultant to HiTech Health, which provides cell and gene therapy services and enables pharmaceutical companies to launch and supply product.

A graduate of University College Cork, Ireland (BSc) and the University of New South Wales, Australia (PhD) Dr Bishop conducted post-doctoral research at Cancer Research UK and held a lectureship at Imperial College, London.
