HRB Taboo series at the Science Gallery

20 October 2015

Join us in a public conversation breaking taboos around the body and childbirth

Wednesday, October 21, 2015 - 18:00 to 19:15, Science Gallery, Dublin

From health problems that occur during and following pregnancy to social pressure and stigma, this discussion looks at the honest picture of childbirth in Ireland today - from epidurals to breastfeeding and pelvic pain to postnatal depression.

Scientist and illustrator Maria Boyle will lead a discussion focusing on what the research can tell us, why some issues remain shrouded in secrecy and what’s changing in terms of Irish society and in terms of medical breakthroughs with a panel featuring;

  • Deirdre Daly of The MAMMI Study
  • Irene Lowry of Nurture and
  • award winning medical journalist, June Shannon.

Attendance is free, but advance registration is required. More information and registration details are available from: dublin.sciencegallery.com/events/2015/10/hrbredalerttaboobodyandchildbirth
