Child Health Epidemiology
The HRB no longer conducts research on Child Health Epidemiology.
Following a review of the HRB's activities in 2008 and 2009, The Child Health Epidemiology Unit (CHEU) was disbanded at the end of 2009.
It carried out research in pregnancy and child health with particular focus is on neural tube defects, orofacial clefts and other congenital malformations.
The HRB was instrumental in establishing the link between neural tube defects, commonly known as spina biffida, and folic acid and vitamin B12.
