Applying Research into Policy and Practice Postdoctoral Fellowship (ARPP) 2018

29 ARPP applications have been sent for international peer-review. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview on 11th and 12th September 2018 with final Board approval on the 28th September 2018.

Workshop for the second round of the Emerging Investigator Awards for Health (EIA) 2019

The HRB will host a workshop for prospective applicants and research office representatives. This will take place at the HRB offices on Monday 28 May 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm.

Please email EIAworkshop@hrb.ie if you would like to attend. The next round of the EIA call will open on GEMS at 1 pm on Monday 28 May.

Horizon 2020 updates

There was a total of 47 Irish applications to the most recent round of Horizon 2020 health calls. Seven of these were coordinated by Irish researchers.

Better health and care, economic growth and sustainable health systems

This call closed on the 18th April 2018. There were 324 proposals submitted in total, with 29 applications from Ireland, including two Irish coordinators.

Digital transformation in health and care

This call closed on the 24th April 2018. There were 168 proposals submitted in total, with 18 applications from Ireland, five of them coordinated by Irish researchers.

 

Increased budget

The EU Commission has increased the budget for the final two years remaining of Horizon 2020. There is a total funding pot of approximately €1.5 billion available for health research related projects.

There are still many opportunities to participate in Horizon 2020 in areas such as the following:

  • regenerative medicine
  • infectious diseases
  • implementation research for maternal and child health
  • therapies for non-communicable diseases
  • mental health in the workplace
  • the smart Hospital of the future
  • impact of environment on health
  • eHealth for integrated care and active and healthy ageing.
