Find out more about clinical trials - just ask!

Staff at HRB-linked networks and facilities are encouraging people to find out more about clinical research and how they can be partners in the clinical trials process. To do this, they are running a series of events this week to coincide with International Clinical Trials Day - 20 May 2017.

Wednesday 17 May: The HRB Clinical Research Facility (CRF) in Cork have a clinical research information stand in Cork University Hospital. (12.00 - 15.00)

Thursday 18 May: HRB CRF Cork move their roadshow to Mercy University Hospital (10.00 - 12.00)

Friday 19 May (The big day!):

  • Kids take centre stage at the START campaign prize-giving in NUI Galway. This is the grand finale of a schools competition to encourage kids to conduct and report on their on randomised-control trial. It is organised by HRB Trial Methodology Research Network. The HRB CRF in Galway will join the festivities with an information stand. 
  • Staff at the Wellcome-HRB CRF in St James's Hospital will demystify Public Patient involvement in clinical research with a seminar called, 'Do nothing about me without me'. 
  • Clinical Trials Ireland launch the 2017 'Just Ask' Campaign in the Mansion House, to encourage people to ask their GP about clinical trials that could be available to them. 
  • The HRB Mother and Baby CTN host an information coffee morning with a screening of their ‘Curious Parents’ videos and a ‘Trials in Three’ competition, where the winner is the person best able to present their Clinical Trial or Study in just 3 minutes!
  • UCD Clinical Research Centre (CRC) will have information stands in Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, St Vincents University Hospital and the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street (09.00 - 12.00)
  • RCSI CRC host a clinical research information stand at Beaumont Hospital (10.00 - 15.00)

Saturday 20 May - Open Day at HRB CRF in Galway in University Hospital Galway (09.00 - 16.00). Tours of the Clinical Research Facility, music, family fun and more. Register
