This call is made possible from a bequest by the late Mr Patrick Quinn to the Medical Council. Subject to HRB Board approval, the scheme will support projects with a strong potential in the short-term to positively impact on people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. The level of public and patient involvement in projects funded in this call is expected to be significant – applicants will need to demonstrate how PPI has been used to identify the research questions.

Potential areas for research include, but are not limited to:

  • information on the prevalence of Parkinson’s in Ireland
  • access to and improvement of health services,
  • and the potential of therapies impacting on quality of life such as physiotherapy, specific exercise therapies and speech therapy.

It is intended to fund projects with duration of 1-2 years. Co-funding will be possible, but will not be a requirement of the call. T

The level of funding for such projects is anticipated to be €100,000 - €250,000 per project inclusive of overheads. More details will be posted in the All funding schemes part of the HRB website at a later date.
