John McCormack was CEO of the Irish Cancer Society between 2002 and 2017....
The Irish Cancer Society raises over €20m annually to provide free services for people affected by cancer, and to fund ground breaking cancer research in Ireland, and is 98% self-funding.
Under John’s leadership, the Society made considerable strides to improve the lives of cancer patients and others affected by cancer, and successfully lobbied for and supported significant changes in the cancer landscape including the implementation of the 2006 National Cancer Strategy; the rollout of breast and cervical cancer screening; the HPV vaccination programme; the workplace smoking ban; and the rollout of bowel cancer screening.
John is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and holds an MBA from DCU.
