The Health Research Board (HRB) plays a key role in strengthening the evidence base in health and social care in Ireland and in developing research capacity in these areas through dedicated training and career development schemes. The HRB now invites applications for the Research Training Fellowships for Healthcare Professionals 2010. The aim of this scheme is to invest in outstanding individuals and in high calibre projects focussing on patient-oriented, health service and health population science research. The HRB anticipates that these fellowships will improve clinical knowledge, critical thinking and research skills and contribute to innovation in health and social care.
WHO should apply?
Health and social care professionals in Ireland who wish to undertake training in clinical research leading to a PhD (or in exceptional circumstances and well justified, a Masters degree by research). Health and social care professionals are defined as medical practitioners, dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists and those professional groups recognised under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005.
What does the award include? Three years’ full-time funding for salary and related costs, student fees, running costs, dissemination costs, a training and development allowance and a travel grant to gain research experience abroad.
