Health Research Centres Phase One Application
Infrastructure and Special Initiatives
- Opening Date:
- 8 June 2007
- Closing Date:
- 20 July 2007
- Application Restrictions:
The HRB invites applications from multidisciplinary teams who will focus on research that is specifically relevant to the health services. Three research categories have been identified: 1) primary care; 2) health and diet, including consumer cognitive response to food (research in this area is co-funded by the Department of Agriculture and Food); 3) other health service priorities, including management of chronic disease, health inequalities, ageing and age-related diseases. This call is in part supported by funding made available to the HRB and to the Department of Agriculture and Food under the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation.
The purpose is to set up HRB Centres of excellence which will undertake research and disseminate information aimed at improving the health and/or care of the population. The Health Research Centres (HRCs) will foster collaborative research and the building of critical mass within the relevant research communities. They will underpin health systems, health services research and clinical research and will ensure that new knowledge is translated into practice.
