Update 10 January 2013:

The closing date for applications has been extended for 1 week until 1.00 pm 20 January 2014.

The Health Research Board invites applications for Summer Student Scholarships from undergraduate students in a health or social care-related discipline to support their participation in research during the summer months in 2014. The purpose of the student scholarships is to encourage an interest in research and to give the student an opportunity to become familiar with research techniques.

All grant applications are made through the HRB Grants E-Management System (GEMS). Notification of this change was circulated to all Host Institutions/ Research Liaison Officers in August 2013 to allow sufficient time for applicants to prepare their applications offline before submission via GEMS.
The nominated Host Institution will approve and submit each application on behalf of the applicant. Please make this a time consideration when preparing your grant application. Please see the Guidance Notes below for further details.

Who should apply?

Undergraduate students who are studying in a relevant discipline at a university/third level institute in Ireland but not in the final year of their degree course and who have not previously received a Summer Student Scholarship from the HRB.

The amount paid will be €250 per week for a maximum of eight weeks and is paid to the student by the nominated Host Institution

How can one apply?
