The Irish Thoracic Society (ITS) is pleased to announce a call for research projects under the 2013 MRCG/HRB Joint Funding Scheme to the value of €100,000.00 over two years. This call is made possible thanks to the joint support of Novartis Ireland Ltd and Boehringer Ingelheim Ireland Ltd through unrestricted research grants. For more details please see


Brainwave - The Irish Epilepsy Association invites applications for epilepsy-focused research projects of up to a three-year duration to a maximum of €50,000 p.a. commencing in December 2013. For more details, please see here:

Diabetes Ireland in partnership with the Medical Research Charity Group and the Health Research Board research are pleased to be able to offer an award of €175,000 for Irish diabetes research with a starting date of late 2013/early 2014. For more details, please see here:

About the MRCG/HRB Joint Funding Scheme

Since 2006, the Medical Research Charities Group (MRCG) and the HRB have operated an innovative joint funding scheme that allows members of the MRCG to support research of particular interest to specific patient populations. This scheme provides funding for clearly defined research projects in disease areas of strategic relevance to each individual charity. MRCG/HRB awards will be up to a maximum total award value of €300,000 for projects from 12 up to 36 months.

As calls are announced, applicants should contact the designated contact point at the respective charity.
