Recommended EU Funding Priorities for 2018-2020

2016 EU Commission Consultation

The Health Expert Advisory Group has prepared a report at the request of DG Research and Innovation to provide recommendations towards defining strategic priorities for the 2018-2020 Health Work Programme

The Commission is now looking for feedback on this report.

About the report

The Advisory Group organised 15 working groups to consider main research priorities aligned to vertical themes, horizontal themes and cross-cutting issues. These are:

VERTICAL themes:  (V1) Personalised medicine, (V2) Rare diseases, (V3) Infectious diseases, (V4) Non-communicable diseases, (V5) Paediatrics, (V6) Public health and prevention including migration, and (V7) Active and healthy ageing

HORIZONTAL themes: (H1) Big data, (H2) eHealth, mHealth, ICT, (H3) Integration of care, and (H4) Environment and health, green solutions and sustainability including climate change

CROSS-CUTTING issues: (CC1) Social Sciences and Humanities, integration, inequalities, migration and ethics, (CC2) Sex and gender differences in medicine, (CC3) Commercialisation within “Health, Demographic Change and Well-being”  and (CC4) Encouraging stronger and successful involvement of EU-13

 

Providing feedback

Please submit your feedback to the HRB on the template provided by the Commission.

Feedback may include:

  • your overall opinion on the advice given
  • changes that you would suggest  to any of the specific research priorities given, including detail on the proposed impacts of any suggested changes
  • your insight into any key strategic areas for Ireland that are not addressed within this report and should be raised with the Commission

 This consultation does not represent any commitment by the EU Commission to transpose all received inputs into the final outcome.

  • Health Expert Advisory Group Report - This Advisory Group report is the first step in the preparation process for the work programme 2018-20 - the final Horizon 2020 work programme.

  • The Health Expert Advisory Group was established by the EU Commission following an open call inviting experts to participate and includes two Irish members, Prof Orla Sheils, TCD and Dr Peggy Maguire, European Institute of Women's Health
  • The Commission is also consulting with other main stakeholders such as European Technology Platforms, European Innovation Partnerships, Joint Programming Initiatives, contractual Public-Private Partnerships and other representatives from professional organisations and civil society.
