Grant Applications - Summer updates

Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Scheme (KEDS) 2017 progress, advance notice of a new call, 'Applying Research into Policy & Practice Postdoctoral Fellowship' (ARPP).

Applications in progress

Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Scheme (KEDS) 2017: A total of 43 applications were received for the KEDS 2017 call. A review panel will be held in August and the recommendations from the panel will be tabled at the HRB Board for approval in September. Applicants will be informed of the outcome  in early October.

Collaborative Doctoral Awards in Patient-focused Research (CDA) 2018: 41 pre-applications were submitted by the deadline. These are now going through an eligibility check and will be short listed by an international panel in September. Short listed lead applicants will be invited to submit full applications with a deadline in mid-November.

Investigator Led Projects 2017: The HRB Board approved funding for 29 Investigator Led Projects valued at a total of €9.6 million. It is expected that the first projects will begin in the Autumn.

Applied Partnership Awards (APA) 2017 Second Peer Review Cycle: This will remain open until 15 September 2017. 

The aim of the Applied Partnership Awards is to support high quality applied research projects through research partnerships between academic researchers and knowledge users in policy and practice. The research projects should target research that will support the work of healthcare policy and service delivery partners.

Cancer Prevention Fellowship Programme 2018: The call for the National Cancer Institute Cancer Prevention Fellowship Programme 2018 is now open. The fellowship provides training for post-doctorate candidates from the health professions, biomedical, and behavioural sciences to become leaders in the field of cancer prevention and control.

Applicants from Ireland must contact the Health Research Board first to ensure that eligibility criteria are satisfied and to obtain an official tracking number from the HRB and submit their application prior to the 25 August 2017 application deadline using the NCI online application system. If successful, the awardee with carry out a Master's programme in public health (MPH) in the first year of the award in Ireland, before relocating for 3 years to the National Cancer Institute in the US. The awardee can also avail of a year of funding for relocating back to Ireland. 

Ulysses 2017. The Health Research Board (HRB) is partnering with the Irish Research Council's (IRC) Ulysses travel grant to fund a number of research visits to France in the areas of patient orientated research, population health or health services research. Upcoming calls

Applying Research into Policy & Practice Postdoctoral Fellowship (ARPP):

The call for this grant will open early-to-mid October with a closing date in January 2018. These individual fellowships are designed to build capability and leadership potential of researchers who will help reduce the gap between research findings and health policy and/or clinical practice. Academic researchers or in-practice healthcare and health policy professionals can apply under two different streams.
